Always a dog fan...
My first word was "dog" and I remember as a young child telling my parents, "When I get my dog..." But it wasn't until I married my husband, Bruce, that I got my first dog, a lovely golden retriever. She was "our first child" and we had many excursions to the Minnesota lake of my in-laws where she enjoyed swimming and exploring with us. She was great with our human kids serving as a pillow for Emily quite often. Fast forward through 2 more goldens, a couple of cairns and border terriers until we discovered Otterhounds at the 1999 Louisville Kennel Club Dog Show.
In the summer of 2002 we brought home Kendall, Ch. Scentasia's Good Time Girl, owned by Nancy and Richard Wallens, when she was retired from conformation competition. Living in Madison, WI, with good access to the University of Wisconsin's Theriogenology Department, we agreed to breed her. Our first litter was born in 2003 producing 2 puppies.

Puppy rearing
I was fortunate to retire in December of 2008 in time to breed Maddie in 2009. As you can see from the pictures throughout our website, the puppies are reared by their mother with a little help from us in our home. The pictures above show the setting in Madison where we still have our house but upon Bruce's retirement in May of 2010, we made Door County our permanent home adding on a "dog room" where we have a couple of kennel runs and a raised bathtub and grooming area to take care of our pack. Our 2010 and 2012 litters were whelped in Madison but reared in Door County where we have lots of outdoor space for them to run and play. We work on acquainting them with a variety of people and give them lots of time with their mom and littermates. They spend time indoors and outside throughout the day.
Thanks to Scentasia Otterhounds
We would like to acknowledge and thank Betsy Conway of Scentasia Otterhounds for all of the assistance and support she has provided by coming out for the birth of both of Maddie's litters and again before they went home, sharing her wonderful skills and experience in whelping, routines in rearing and evaluating puppies. Bruce and I have learned so much from her.
Thanks to Kalevala Otterhounds
Thanks to Nancy and Richard Wallens for without them we would never have enjoyed the addition of Kendall to our family. They have also encouraged our participation in the conformation show scene with Nancy and Bryan Martin. Thanks for Jack's return to us following Kendall's untimely death from hemangiosarcoma.
Thanks to all of our past puppy buyers.

We've loved making the many friends we have through our puppies. We think of each of them like extended family and delight in each of their successes and the fun they share with us.
