Ch. MagicWood Kalevala Wink at the Moon-Our New Champion!
August 1 through August 4, 2013, we went to Marshall, MI to see if we could find that elusive last major to finish Allie. Thanks to great handling by Danielle Goodland, Allie took Best of Breed on August 2 over a special and seven class dogs and finished her championship on August 3 under Judge Sonny Ambrosio. She took Best of Opposite on Saturday and Sunday as well. Good show, Allie and her beloved handler, Dani! She was very successful at the Otterhound National Specialty in Wilmot, Wisconsin in September winning an award 3 out of 3 days. She is a mere 6 points from a Grand Championship. Sadly, that Grand will never be achieved as we lost her on March 9, 2014 to a series of grand mal seizures. Bless her precious heart and soul. She was a joy and a treasure each and every day. I pray that one day there will be a treatment and a cure for this pox upon the dog world.
At four weeks we began to wonder when those big eyes were fixed upon us, if this was the puppy meant to stay with us.
Allie (2nd in line) in competition at the 2011 Louisville KC Dog Show.

9 months old just in time for the Otterhound Regional Specialty in Louisville, March 2011. Allie won her class every day and took Reserve several days. Allie has performed well in Conformation events and is well on her way to a championship.
On our last trip to Madison, Allie had her hips x-rayed in the hopes she would qualify for an OFA number. Dr. Link at Spring Harbor thought she would be a "Good" and indeed when we got the results from the Orthopedic Foundation for
Animals, Allie got a "Good" rating with no evidence of displasia. Along with her clear GT result and her submission of blood for the Otterhound epilepsy study, Allie has now completed all the requirements for a number from the Canine Health Foundation so joins all of her housemates--Jack, Maddie and Wicket with CHIC numbers! Allie is now a CHIC! |
MagicWood Kalevala Wink at the Moon, CGC

We've been enjoying a class here in Door County for Canine Good Citizen. Taught by Kathy Enquist at the Fish Creek YMCA, Allie has been practicing walking on a loose lead, learning to stay on command, coming when called, sitting, downing, walking through a crowd, standing for grooming and all the wonderful things it takes to be a good companion. She loved seeing all the people and dogs at the class and exuberantly relished the extra attention and treats she got during practice. Sunday, October 21 she earned her AKC CGC title.
Allie won a major and a Group Three in East Lansing, 12/1/2012
Many thanks to Judge Dr. James Sillers for giving Allie Best of Breed for a 5 point major and then a Group 3 among stiff Hound Group competition at this end of year dog show. We were so delighted for this recognition.
