Sad news yesterday as Wickie is not pregnant. On the other hand, everything looks normal and there is no reason to think she will not get pregnant when she next comes in season so we will go on to another breeding to Bubba in the fall. This time we will use the scientific method with a surgical artificial insemination instead of a more natural approach. We will have a great summer with lots of outdoor play time for Wickie, Maddie, Jack and Allie and hope to post some fun pictures of the gang.
Off to Louisville we went on March 14 with the hope of success for a natural breeding. Progesterone tests indicated that we might hit the right days while we were there for the Otterhound Regional Specialty dog show. Friday the progesterone level rose to 3.3 and the local repro vet recommended going for a breeding. We managed to get 2 breedings done, once each on March 17th and 18th, a good omen on the dates for an Irish girl like me! Once back in Wisconsin on Monday morning the progesterone had risen to over 26 so we knew we had hit just the right days. Now it's all up to Wicket and on April 17th we'll find out if she is pregnant. We think she has given us some positive indicators but we'll have to wait for the ultrasound to know for sure!
